Down the Gatineau
Laser Engraved Woodcut Print on Paper, 3’ x 6’, 2017
Down the Gatineau explores the history of logging and its impacts on the landscape surrounding the Gatineau River in Quebec. It asks questions about the nature of resource extraction and how it changes the landscapes we live in. This work explores the contrast of digital and analog through the use of laser engraving and the traditional method of woodcut relief printing. It explores the relationship between the precision of digital creation and the organic nature of working with wood.
